Internet can simply be regarded as a global network composed of computer networks . The Internet allows computer networks to exchange information and communicate with each other in a much shorter time than the other information and communication , assisted again by accelerating the development of computer technology and gadgets that strongly supports the use and development of the internet . The forerunner of the Internet itself began to be made in 1969 by the U.S. Department of Defense , where the purpose of making a network called ARPANET ( Advanced Research Projects Agency Network ) is actually in the interests of the military and state security . ARPANET used as a communication tool that is more efficient due to its reach exceeds range phone line , this communication aims to accelerate the delivery of information in the event of an attack on the United States , because as we all know , the past is the height of the cold war between the United States and Russia . ARPANET is also useful in the future as data storage is scattered , it aims to avoid centralized information storage , making them easier to destroy.
Due to the rapid development of the ARPANET and the number of university applicants from across the United States to join and help build the website in the network, the U.S. government formed the ARPANET smaller for non - military purposes which can then be used and developed by universities throughout the United States , and to this day millions of websites that have been formed in a large network called the internet .

Don't panic, Google's Talk and Hangouts services crashed this morning, but now appear to be returning for more and more users.
Those still without one or more of the services have been complaining about their inability to connect with colleagues on a busy -- and for some, snowy, Monday.
A little after noon ET today, Google's Apps Status Dashboard page reported that its engineers were investigating the issues with Google Talk services.
By 2:15 p.m., Google noted that the Talk and Google+ Hangouts services had been restored for some users and that engineers are trying to bring it back online for everyone.
The Google Sheets spreadsheet app has been fully restored, Google said.
It's not yet clear how many users have been affected by the outages.
As usual, when users are unhappy, they take to Twitter to vent.
